Advisory Board for the new Waterloo Region Hospital
Waterloo currently has 3 hospitals, which range from 17 to 97 years of age. 81% of the buildings are older than 25 years and are considered outdated by modern medical construction practices. A 50% increases in services is projected for most acute care services by 2043 due to an aging and growing population in the region.
This advisory board was assembled by the leaders of the regional hospitals and retirement homes to push the project for a new regional hospital forward. We completed our pre-submission in June of 2021, and have ambitious goals of being the second fastest hospital ever approved and built from start to finish in Ontario.
